Dark&Dirty Rides for November 2014

Last week I had flu and could not get anybody willing to lead so I cancelled the ride, but that did not deter three riders who turned up and did an urban bash – good show! You can read about it at (you may have to scroll down to get to the report).

This week we do the Intro ride which is a bit easier and shorter, but still have some challenges to keep everyone interested. If you have been thinking of joining; this is your chance and don’t worry about not being able to keep up; we don’t leave anybody behind!

Please indicate before Thursday 14h00 that you are coming so that we can know that there will be enough people for a safe ride. If you send me a message at 17h00, it is too late as I might have cancelled the ride already. You can also send a text (SMS) or a WhatsApp message to 0736891370 and I will report the number of takers on Thursday afternoons on the mailing lists and the Facebook page of "Let’s ride Pretoria".

Xtra Ride report by Andries

Last week I ended at an empty Moo Mall after not reading that it was actually cancelled. Luckily a few new riders arrived as I was about to head home and the 3 of us decided to head on into the dark. Unfortunately my car keys had a dismount and was almost declared missing. Sending us on a confusing backtrack route which turned out a success as the keys were found.

On our second attempt we had a few battery problems with some lights, but was quickly sorted by Stefan who was trying a new invention. No serious dismounts, except for a big rock that Stefan’s front wheel just didn’t want to get over and sent him over the handlebars causing some great topics for the rest of the ride. We decided to stick to the wider gravel routes and eventually tar routes on our way back.

After a great 26km we arrived back at Irene Village and had some refreshments at the Spur before heading home. What a great Xtra Ride it was indeed.
